It’s Nearly October Half Term!

Thank goodness, it’s not long to go now until October half term! I am sure you are all excited for a well deserved break from all that hard work and those early morning get ups.
Reminder! You don’t have long left to join in The World Marathon Challenge that is taking place on 16th October 2012. The World Marathon Challenge is a simultaneous relay in which teams of 11 to 13-year-olds from across the globe race against each other over the full marathon distance. Not only is this a great opportunity to take part in the biggest children’s running event in the world and experience endurance running in a team format, but it also raises awareness of the fight against world hunger. London Olympic Games... I am sure you are missing the sporty buzz just like I am! The London 2012 Games were a huge success especially for Paralympic athletics, with new stars emerging and inspiring a generation. We are now looking for a new generation of Paraympic athletes through our upcoming Parallel Success talent identification days. Aviva Parallel Success is split into two sections – there is advice and guidance on who is eligible for the Paralympic Pathway and how you can begin to spot a potentially talented athlete, but there’s also information on competition opportunities on the British Athletics Academy Calendar so they have the chance to experience the action and excitement.
Are you stuck for ideas on what to do in your October half term? Why don’t you take part in an Startrack scheme, Jessica Ennis started her athletics career taking part as a 10 year old! Aviva Startrack schemes are run locally and every year more than 20,000 children take part, you could be one of them! Click here to check out where your nearest scheme is being held.
